The Institute of World Policy and The International Centre for Policy Studies Have Completed a Conference Series on the Future of the Foreign Policy of Ukraine

On December 21, 2010, the International Centre for Policy Studies (www.icps.kiev.ua) and the Institute of World Policy held a conference on the future of the foreign policy of Ukraine. Experts’ discussion in Kyiv was the last in a series of the national debate.The series “New Foreign Policy for Ukraine” consisted of five conferences held in Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Odessa, Kharkiv, and Kyiv. As the result, analysts of ICPS and IWP summarized core ideas of Ukrainian experts and produced a report with foreign policy recommendations for the next president of Ukraine.

Alyona Getmanchuk, IWP director, moderated the conference in Kyiv. Senior experts of the final discussion included those from Souspilnist Foundation (www.souspilnist.org); Research Association of The Institute of Foreign Affairs of Taras Shevchenko National University; the Young People’s Movement (www.mnr.org.ua) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The main topics of the discussion were opportunities, prospects, priorities, and challenges of the relations with the European Union, Russia, NATO, and the United States.

The analysts of IWP and ICPS are preparing reports based on the findings from the conferences held in Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Odessa, and Kharkiv. They will produce a Policy Note about the future foreign policy of Ukraine for the next President.
