On the 27th of September Institute of World Policy with the support of the Swedish Embassy organised Street Eurouniversity in Zhytomyr – the exhibition of caricatures which illustrate benefits of European integration for Ukraine. The exhibition was opened by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Ukraine Ivan Počuch, Deputy Head of the Embassy of Sweden in Kyiv Marten Ehnberg, and Deputy Ambassador of Germany in Ukraine Anka Feldhuzen. Diplomats gave short lectures on the opportunities of the European integration.
Czech Ambassador told about his country’s experience of the European integration. Počuch stressed that all citizens should make his or her own contribution to the development of the state. He also underlined that close cooperation with the EU will not be an obstacle for Ukraine to cooperate with third countries (not EU members) and strengthen economics and trade relations with them.
Guests who visited our exhibition had an opportunity to discuss their questions regarding European integration with the IWP experts – Alyona Getmanchuk, IWP Director, and Serhiy Solodkyy, IWP first deputy Director.
Street Eurouniversities were previously presented in other Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Chernihiv, Nizhyn, Poltava, Sumy, Konotop, Kirovohrad, Kryvyi Rih, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Cherkasy. Caricatures presented within this project illustrate two realities in around twenty social, economic, and political spheres of everyday life in Ukraine and in EU states. The authors of the caricatures are famous Ukrainian artists Maryna Turovska, Kostyantyn Kazanchev, Ihor Bezhuk and Oleksiy Kustovskyy. Pictures were ordered by the IWP.
Street Eurouniversity is a metaphorical title for public events, which aim is to support open discussion between civil society leaders and experts with ordinary citizens. Within this project we organise a series of exhibitions of caricatures which illustrate the most vital challenges of Eurointegration.
