The official presentation of the Institute of World Policy took place on December 16, 2009, at the Hyatt Hotel in Kyiv. The introduction of new analytic centre attracted a wide range of Ukrainian diplomats, politicians, ambassadors and experts in foreign affairs.Viktor Shlinchak, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Institute of World Policy and Alyona Getmanchuk, director of the Institute started the ceremony with the speech. Leaders of the IWP outlined the fields of future activity of new strategic centre. The mission of the Institute is to inform and educate policy makers, experts, journalists, and the general public about events and trends in international relations as it concerns Ukraine and Ukraine’s foreign policy.
John Tefft, the ambassador of the USA to Ukraine, Dr. Hans-Jurgen Heimsoeth, the ambassador of Germany to Ukraine, Yuriy Yekhanurov, the first deputy of Head of the President’s Secretariate, Borys Tatrasyuk, the head of Parliamentary Committee for European integration, Hennadiy Udovenko and Anatoliy Zlenko, ex-ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine took part in the presentation.
Mrs. Hanne Severinsen, Co-Rapporteur of the Monitor Committee of the Council of Europe on Ukraine’s implementation of duties and obligations before the Council of Europe between 1997 and 2008, represented The Strategic Advisory Council of the Institute of World Policy at the presentation. Other members of The Strategic Advisory Council are David J. Kramer, Senior Transatlantic Fellow of The German Marshall Fund of the United States, U.S. Undersecretary of State (2008-2009), James Sherr, the Head of Russia and Eurasia Program of Chatham House and William Taylor, Vice President of Center for Post-Conflict Peace and Stability Operations of United States Institute of Peace, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine (2006-2009).
Mrs. Hanne Severinsen took a public lecture on the eve of the official presentation at the Hyatt Hotel. The name of speech of the Danish politician was “The Enchanted Circle, Ukraine and the EU.”
The Institute of World Policy initiates the series of new projects related to the European ant Euroatlantic integration processes of Ukraine. All these programs would be implemented in cooperation with international analytic and strategic centers.
