IWP presented its recommendations for reform of the EaP in Brussels

Leonid Litra, Senior Research Fellow at the IWP, took part in the advocacy conference “Civil Society Contributions to Human Rights and Reform Agenda”, organized by the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum on 8-9 June, in Brussels.The conference explored the areas of vital interest to strengthening democracy, human rights and stability in the region, looking at the civil society contribution to the reform agenda.

Leonid Litra was among the speakers at the high level closing panel on the Way Forward after Riga: Debate with Policy-Makers together with the EaP CSF Steering Committee members. The participants focused on the future of the Eastern dimension of the European Neighbourhood Policy.

Leonid Litra emphasized the dropping support for the EU in Moldova and Georgia and warned against repetition of this scenario in Ukraine in the absence of strong pro-European informational campaign. IWP analyst also told about the results of ‘Eastern Partnership Trends’ study, conducted by the AMO in partnership with the IWP, and presented the update on the European Integration Index for Eastern Partnership countries. According to the experts polls conducted in the EaP, countries the EU should strengthen security dimension of its eastern policy, including energy security.
Gunnar Wiegand, Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and OSCE of the EEAS took part in the debate.
