“For almost a decade now, Pact in Ukraine works with such enthusiastic Ukrainians who not only demand but take an active role in navigating the country towards a European Ukraine. Pact during these years have nurtured a new generation of civic activists who are the crème de la crème of their given profession and, on top of that, eager community organizers.

In particular, Pact works towards two broader themes of relevant policy areas important for Ukraine’s path towards democratic development, social cohesion and economic modernization. In partnerships, we support local solutions that results in the country’s rediscover of its European standards and values to ensure governmental accountability and root out corruption.

Having been privy to the publication’s main findings this morning, I can testify that today’s release of IWP’s polling results will offer an exciting look into both of these themes. Today’s occasion is even more critical than yet another problem statement on these issues because it provides a reality check to the country’s reformers on perceptions that Europeans have about Ukraine.

We are fortunate enough to have found genuine partnership with IWP in the past years. I am proud of this partnering relationship as it truly supports those local Ukrainian solutions that promise lasting results. Today’s poll-release will result in an elevated debate on Ukraine’s image in Europe, which in turn promises new forms of engagement with Western publics. I wish you good luck with today’s event and the follow-on plan of action that address IWP’s Europe-wide polling’s findings”.
