10:28 AM 19-8-2013

The Institute of World Policy, with support of the International Fund “Vidrodzhennia” ,on 15-16 August presented in Chernihiv and Nizhyn the exhibition “Street Eurouniversity” – a number of caricatures which illustrate benefits of European integration for Ukraine. The exhibition “There is a better side of Europe” was opened by Martin Day, Deputy Head of Mission of the British Embassy in Ukraine, with his lecture about European integration. British diplomat focused on advantages for Ukraine from integration. According to Martin Day, signing Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU is crucial for further cooperation and integration. “We understand that this process cannot be immediate: as it is said – Moscow was not built at once – we have to be patient. We realise the Vilnius Summit and signing of the Association Agreement as the first step, not the last one, in Ukraine’s Eurointegration” – said British diplomat.
Guests who visited our exhibition had an opportunity to discuss their questions regarding European integration with IWP experts – Alyona Getmanchuk, IWP Director, and Serhiy Solodkyy, IWP first deputy Director.
“Street Eurouniversities” were previously presented in other Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia. Caricatures presented within this project illustrate two realities in around twenty social, economic, and political spheres of everyday life in Ukraine and in EU states. Caricatures were made by famous Ukrainian artists – Maryna Turovska, Konstantyn Kalachevych, Ihor Bezhuk and Oleksiy Kustovskyy. Pictures were ordered by the IWP.
“Street Eurouniversity” is a metaphorical title for public events, which aim is to support open discussion between civil society leaders and experts with ordinary citizens. Within this project we organise a series of exhibitions of caricatures which illustrate the most vital challenges of Eurointegration and are described by relevant comments.
