09:44 PM 23-8-2013

Institute of World Policy with support of the International Fund “Vidrodzennia” organised on 22-23 August 2013 “Street Eurouniversity” in Poltava and Kremenchuk – the exhibition of caricatures which illustrate benefits of European integration for Ukraine. The exhibition “There is a better side of Europe” was opened by a lecture about European integration given by Maria Jurikova, deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine. Ms Jurikova explained advantages of European integration. Furthermore, Ms Jurikova emphasized that the Association Agreement will be the first step which will bring Ukraine closer to the EU. Finally, Ms Jurikova said that on September 21 will take place meeting of EU member states’ foreign ministers, who will decide whether the Agreement with Ukraine will be signed or not.
Guests who visited our exhibition had an opportunity to discuss their questions regarding European integration with IWP experts – Alyona Getmanchuk, IWP Director, and Serhiy Solodkyy, IWP first deputy Director.
“Street Eurouniversities” were previously presented in other Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia. Caricatures presented within this project illustrate two realities in around twenty social, economic, and political spheres of everyday life in Ukraine and in EU states. Caricatures were made by famous Ukrainian artists – Maryna Turovska, Konstantyn Kalachevych, Ihor Bezhuk and Oleksiy Kustovskyy. Pictures were ordered by the IWP.
“Street Eurouniversity” is a metaphorical title for public events, which aim is to support open discussion between civil society leaders and experts with ordinary citizens. Within this project we organise a series of exhibitions of caricatures which illustrate the most vital challenges of Eurointegration and are described by relevant comments.
